About Minivan Memories

Traveling with our four children is not easy, but for our family it is a priority.  As a self-proclaimed travel junkie, there are few things I look forward to more than a good old break from reality, also known as.... vacation.  You see, I stay at home with my children and for eight years I have held the title of CEO of our household.  My husband works hard to bring home the money, but I work my tail off to care for my brood, keep the house presentable, ensure appointments are made, homework is done, my family is fed...you get the point.

I spend the majority of my time in the confines of my home, so taking a vacation really gets my adrenaline pumping.  Many years ago I set a goal to see all 50 states and I am happy to say, after this summer I'll have less than ten to go!  I am blessed with a husband who is not afraid to hit the road and children who are up for new adventures.  That surely doesn't mean there aren't bumps along the way, but it's all worth it.

My husband and I have spent a lot of time dreaming up our family travel plans.  We have two overall goals:  to take an annual vacation to the beach and complete the Major League Ballpark Tour by the time our oldest son graduates.  This Ballpark Tour lends itself to many summers of road trips and the opportunity to see and do so many things all over the country that incorporate all of our children's interests.  It is a lofty goal, but with some long-term planning and budgeting, we hope to accomplish it.

We have two major road trips planned this summer and by the time school rolls around again, we will have spent roughly 75 hours in the minivan, 20 nights on the road, traveled to 15 states and added 3 more ballparks (for a total of 9).  This summer is sure to be our greatest adventure yet and we are looking forward to it!

Making travel plans is one of my favorite hobbies.  I love looking for good deals, searching for the perfect place to stay, and finding kid-friendly activities.  Our oldest son has a severe peanut and tree nut allergy, so I also spend a lot of time researching allergy-friendly restaurants and attractions.  The baseball park isn't the easiest to maneuver around, but with his love of baseball, we work really hard to keep our visits safe.
